About ME

Zara Baig is the Founder of Rangrez, a nonprofit initiative focused on unlocking creativity and problem solving skills among refugee and other underprivileged children in Chicago. She and her team work with refugee children from grades 2 through 10 to help them understand and apply art techniques and apply similar learning strategies to other subjects like math and reading.

Zara is passionate about using the love and theory of art to influence social change. An artist herself, she has focused her artwork on themes that touch on identity, emotion, and life experiences.

Zara is a teacher and graduate-level performer of the Kathak classical Indian dance form, having choreographed multiple graduation performances, and dancing outfits. She loves the the story-telling aspect of this dance form, combining facial expressions, hand gestures, and movement to convey emotion and action.

She is a senior in high school and lives in the South Loop of Chicago along with her parents and her cat Rumi. Her older sister Dania is in college in the East Coast.
