LEARNING THROUGH ART – THE ART PROJECT AT FORA

WHAT IS FORA- Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America (FORA), a non-profit that started in January 2019 to help refugee students that arrived in the U.S years behind their typical grade level to catch up in math and reading so that school becomes meaningful and fun. 

ART and LEARNING – Art unlocks expression and creativity among all students that can then be applied to other areas of study. By teaching basic drawing concepts to students and doing art assignments, students become more engaged and activated towards learning in general. Math and reading are then introduced to help students accelerate learning in these areas. For example, students learn geometry, painting landscapes, self portraits, learn storytelling, and expand vocabulary through reading.
